TMJ -- temporomandibular joint syndrome -- can be a real pain. But these dos and don'ts can help ease your discomfort. DO: Try to increase blood flow to your jaw. Apply ice OR moist heat (like a warm, wet washcloth) -- but don't alternate. Pick one and stick with it.

A minor health concern, but a painful one: you're in the middle of a delicious meal when you chomp down on the inside of your cheek instead of your food! Definitely not a life-threatening injury... but definitely annoying.

Sores in the Corners of the Mouth

The last few winters have brought me a new problem: the corners of my mouth dry out and crack open. It's painful, it looks ugly and makes me self-conscious, and I'm having a hard time healing it. If I open my mouth too wide (like for a yawn), anything that has healed cracks open again.
