It's Time to Quit: Let's Get Together

Are you a smoker? Do you want to quit? I know that may sound like a stupid question because I don't know many smokers who don't want to quit, but they avoid it because honestly it seems impossible. Who wants to go through the jitters, the frustration and the pacing? I've tried quitting before, in fact, just a couple of months ago, I made another attempt at quitting and actually made it a few weeks, but that's not enough - what I need to do is to quit all together.

I need to be a non-smoker.

Not a former smoker.

Not a smoker who quit.

A Non-Smoker.

Becoming a non-smoker is not a new resolution nor is a new year's resolution - it's a lifetime resolution. My mother smoked for forty years and she's been a non-smoker for more than 7 years now. My mother-in-law has been a smoker for just as long and she's as resolved as I am to be a non-smoker. I don't like seeing my daughter putting her dolls out on the patio of her dollhouse for a smoke. Talk about a wake up call.

How to Become a Non-Smoker

My plan is three fold to become a non-smoker. I've set my do or die date. January 29th is it. I'm done. I'm reading a great book by Allen Carr called The Easy Way to Stop Smoking. The great thing about this book is I know five people, lifelong smokers, who all became non-smokers after reading it. Now, I'm as skeptical as the next person and the first time I read the book - it did nothing for me, but it did help to change my mindset. And now, I'm giving the book a try again and I'm reading.

If you are interested in becoming a non-smoker, I'd love to hear from you and I'd love to hear from other non-smokers who may have been smokers before. I'm going to open up a post in our forums as well to keep the discussion going. I'll be sharing my experiences and what's going on with me as I become a non-smoker once and for all.

It's time to quit and become a non-smoker, want to do it together?

I haven't smoked for a year now. It's still a day by day decision not to smoke, but I'm very proud and am certain I won't go back. I just wanted to leave a message of support for everyone!

You can do it, Heather! (Hahahah, I accidentally typed "Healther" instead of "Heather" but quitting will also make you a "healthier" Heather.) :D
