The Colors of Sleep

Studies have shown that color can have an impact on your mood. If you’re having trouble sleeping, the colors in your bedroom may make a difference. Blue encourages daydreaming, and signals the brain to release soothing, sleepy-time hormones. Purple helps calm anxiety and slow muscle responses. Pink can be calming, but different shades can appeal to different sexes. Women tend to prefer purple or blue pinks, while men prefer yellow-toned pinks like peach or … Continue reading

Baby Blog Month in Review: July 2008

Two of my three children are summer babies. That is, they were born in the summer and had their first months surrounded by sunshine streaming in the windows, the sound of birds chirping, and days spent wearing nothing but a diaper and a “onsie.” I made sure that they had Fourth of July outfits ready, even though one of them arrived a week after the holiday. I guess he just wasn’t interested in the parade. Do you have a summer baby, too? We had a lot of new information to share this past month, such as recall notices and new … Continue reading

Shoes for My Daughter Part III

I knew that I needed to find a way to help my daughter get used to wearing shoes. So I did what any mother would do, I put them on her while she was in her carseat or riding in the stroller. This helped her get used to the feel of them on her feet without giving her the opportunity to tear them off of her feet.  It was especially helpful when she fell asleep in her carseat because she was was unknowingly getting used to the feel of a shoe.  It took a little while for her to be … Continue reading
