Going to The Urologist

We were just referred to an urologist, when I say we I mean my husband, to discuss the death of his kidney and what they were going to do to remedy the problem of his high blood pressure. Now with our history of cancer I should warn you I get very worried and stressed every time we have any health issues because I automatically think cancer and this was no different. We walk into the room and my husband goes and gets his weight, blood pressure and temperature while they have me wait in a treatment room. Now I am … Continue reading

The Start Of Kidney Disease

Let me start by saying that if you have not read any of my other blogs you may not know but my husband and I have horrible luck; with the exception of adopting 3 amazing kids and marrying each other that is. In 2004 he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, had the tumor removed and went through 33 days of radiation. In 2005 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, I went through tumor removal, chemo therapy, radiation, prophylactic bilateral mastectomies and many reconstructive surgeries. When you get the Diagnosis

If you know anything about me you will know that I am very upfront and open about my breast cancer. That is totally different than when I was first diagnosed. Although I tend to generalize by saying women, breast cancer affects men too, I apologize for my generalization. The majority of breast cancer patients have tumors that “fed” by estrogen, progesterone, or human growth hormone. … Continue reading

Deciphering the Pathology Report

The web is a great and powerful source of information. It can also be a great source for anxiety and wrong information. When I got home from getting my printed pathology results I could not stop reading them. I had no idea what I was reading because I was not a doctor. I did not have an appointment with an oncologist yet as it was New Year’s Eve when I got the official printout. I could not wait for an opening to find out all about my cancer. As I previously mentioned I hate waiting. I went to the web … Continue reading
