What's Making My Hair Gorgeous: Fekkai or Bom Dia?by Courtney Mroch | More from this Blogger 29 May 2008 01:04 PM
Something remarkable has happened atop my head the last couple of months: my hair looks shinier, healthier, more colorful than it has in years. (Like in over 20 years, since I was a teenager and my hair always looked healthy.) I haven't colored it since last summer so I know it's not that. In fact, when I first noticed this hair transformation it was around the time I should have been noticing the few grays I have and thinking about coloring again. Instead, I noticed my hair had changed color on its own. Not entirely changed, but the brown was richer and complimented by a vibrant caramel overtone. Pretty. I'd never seen it look so healthy! But, like I said above, I hadn't done anything to it. The only things I've done differently are drink a Bom Dia acai drink (with mangosteen) almost every day and use Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream every other day. (I only wash my hair every other day.) I'm thinking one, or maybe the two of them together, are to blame for my newfound great hair. Why the Bom Dia's Acai Drink Might Be To Blame I love this drink because not only does it taste good (to me, it's not for everyone), it's packed with nutrients. (I semi-joke that it lets me drink my vitamins because it's that loaded with them.) But now I'm thinking it might not be so funny and I may be on to something. Vitamins and minerals which contribute to healthy hair include Vitamin C, B-vitamins, vitamin E, and magnesium. (Just to name a few.) Guess what Bom Dia's acai is loaded with? Why the Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream Might Be To Blame I stumbled upon this product when Bath & Body Works gave me a free sample of the Glossing Cream when I bought a bunch of other stuff. I immediately loved it because I have wavy hair that tends to frizz and this stuff tamed it like no other. One of the reasons it might work so well is because it's got olive oil in it. Guess what olive oil's a good source of? Vitamin E. (As well as potentially vitamin K in some cases, something else in Bom Dia's acai. I don't know if it helps hair or not, though.) The Price of Beauty However, Frederic Fekkai products, while effective, are also expensive. I use my Discover Cashback Rewards to get a Bath & Body Works gift card, which I use towards the purchase of my beloved Glossing Cream. Which runs between $25 and $35 per tube depending on which size I buy. (Not that the Bom Dia acai drinks are cheap. They're between $8-$10 for a one liter bottle.) But to have my hair looking like this? It's worth every penny. (Bonus: if the Bom Dia is to blame for helping my hair look this great, imagine what it must be doing for my insides!) I don't have gray, but I do adore my hair and my mom would love to know this! Courtney Mroch (9169) 30 May 2008 02:27 PMI believe it is at least reducing them, if not eliminating. I can't find them anymore! And I'm under a tremendous amount of stress, so either stress is having an opposite effect and making my hair more colorful, or the Bom Dia or Fekkai (or both) are counteracting my grays. And what made me even write about it was that I noticed the difference, but thought it might be just me. But then my sister, neighbors, volleyball friends, even my husband all asked what I was doing to make my hair look so good. It truly is that much of a difference!
